Plan a home workspace around how you use it

Before choosing a desk style, write down who uses the room and what you want to keep there. These questions can help you explain the request, whether or not you send photos.

Start with the room, not a ready-made picture

The image below is a design concept, not a photograph of completed work. It shows a desk, monitor, chair, shelves and two side chairs, but it does not say what suits your room or what your request includes.

Think about daily use, items you already own, storage and movement. You can get in touch without photos; sending a room photo or a link to the idea is optional.

Start with how you will use the room

The concept shows a desk with a monitor and chair, shelves to the side, and two separate chairs. Treat it as an idea to discuss, not a layout for every home.

Who will use the room? Will you work there, study, or use it for more than one purpose? Write down the main uses before choosing details.

List your existing desk and devices

Do you already have a desk, chair, monitor or computer that you plan to keep? Note what you want to move or change, and which devices you need to use in the room.

The current desk service excludes chairs, computers and screens from the custom desk work. The items shown in a design concept do not change that scope.

Decide what needs a place to be stored

List the things you use while working, such as papers, books or devices. Note what you want nearby and what you would rather put away.

Think about whether the room will also hold other household items. You can discuss shelves and cabinets around the items you plan to keep.

Think through movement and screen or cable placement

Describe how you enter the room and move between the desk and storage. Mention if someone else uses or passes through the space, or if you use it for another purpose later.

Tell the team where you want the screen and cables to be considered. If you are asking to move an outlet, the current service page says to have it stated in the quote. The concept image does not specify how any wiring or outlet work is done.

Write down what you want included

List what you want to change and what will stay. The current service page describes measuring the room or corner, the desk, shelves and cabinets, screen and cable placement, lighting by agreement, and installation and cleanup of agreed work.

The chair, computer and screens are excluded from the custom desk service. State the requested desk, storage, screen and cable details, and any outlet move, in the written quote before agreeing.

Questions before planning a home workspace

Do I have to send a photo of the room?

No. You can explain how you use the room and what you want to change without photos. Sending a room photo or a link to an idea is optional.

Does the picture show a completed home-office project?

No. It is a design concept from post 59, not proof of a completed room. It also does not show what would be included in your request.

Are the chair, computer and screens included with a custom desk?

The current service page says the chair, computer and screens are not included in the custom desk work. List the desk and storage work you want to discuss in the quote.

Can I ask to move an outlet?

The current service page says any outlet move should be mentioned in the quote. Ask for the requested work to be described there before you agree; this guide does not give wiring instructions.
